Studying Chemistry at St Edmund Hall as a Visiting Student means world-class tuition in one of the largest and most exciting Chemistry departments in the world. Courses of study cover a wide range of aspects of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. Further detail on courses, and background information on Chemistry at Oxford, is obtainable from the Department of Chemistry website.
- Professor David Manolopoulos MA (BA, PhD Camb) FRS has been a Tutor in Chemistry at St Edmund Hall since 1995, prior to which he was a Lecturer in Physical Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. He has extensive research credentials covering many different aspects of theoretical chemistry, ranging from predicting the structures and properties of the fullerenes to explaining the detailed quantum state-resolved results of modern chemical reaction dynamics experiments. Most recently, he has been studying path integral methods to shed light on the effect of thermal quantum fluctuations in liquids.
- Professor Philip Mountford MA, DPhil (BSc CNAA), CChem, FRSC is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and a recipient of the Society's Sir Edward Frankland Fellowship. He has been a Visiting Professor at several European universities and is the Chair of the Dalton Transactions Editorial Board. His research centre around studies of the bonding and stoichiometric and catalytic reactivity of organometallic and related compounds of the early transition and lanthanide metals, including alkaline earth metals.
