College Life

As a graduate, you'll be a member of the MCR (Middle Common Room). The MCR is run by an elected committee of students, who work hard to ensure that you'll quickly settle in to Oxford life and play a full part in the College community. They organise a programme of social events, including excursions and exchange dinners with other college's MCRs, as well as an annual garden party. Recent events have included a barbecue, a walk in the Cotswolds and a Spanish evening.

You'll have regular opportunities to discuss your work and socialise with College Fellows, including the opportunity to dine at Formal Hall on Tuesdays and attendance at High Table twice a term. All JCR clubs and societies are open to you, and many of our graduates are valued members of the College’s sports teams.

The Middle Common Room itself is a shared social space for all the graduate students. The Hall's MCR is located on the front quad of the college, containing a bar, lounge and computer room for the use of all graduates. The MCR has wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, and offers a range of activities and services, from the daily tea/coffee and newspapers to the special events, such as social events, brunches, high teas and the Hearne Dinner in appreciation of our supervisors.
