Schools Liaison

We welcome visits from school groups to St Edmund Hall throughout the year, and regularly host visits for students in Year 10 and above.

The University has established a programme of regionalisation, under which each Local Education Authority is linked to a particular college. This scheme has no bearing on the Oxford admissions process and is not intended to replace any existing contact between a school and the University, but provides a named first point of contact at Oxford for schools to approach.

The link regions for St Edmund Hall are:

  • Hampshire
  • Isle of Wight
  • Leicester
  • Leicestershire
  • Peterborough
  • Portsmouth
  • Rutland
  • Southampton.

If you are a teacher from a school or college in one of these areas, then we would love to hear from you. To request a visit to St Edmund Hall, please use our online request form. We're also keen to hear from teachers in any other region who might be interested to hear more about the college, and Aularians who now work in schools.

What will a visit involve?

Visits can range from a quick College tour to a full-day event, and can be tailored to fit the age group of the students and particular needs of the school. An inbound visit will always include a tour of the College, and may also feature presentations introducing Oxford, a chance to ask questions of current students, lunch, a city scavenger tour, and/or other workshops such as “Getting ahead”, “Thinking Critically” or “Preparing for an Interview”. Schools may also wish to combine a visit to the College with a session at another of the University museums, departments or colleges.

Hosting a visit at your school or college

Our Schools Liaison Officer can also travel to visit schools and colleges in our link regions. Here, we are happy to talk to students, staff or parents about the University, and can also deliver Application and/or Interview Workshop sessions in the winter term. Please see here for more information.

Information for teachers

The College is always happy to hear from teachers, and will endeavour wherever possible to help answer questions about our application processes, and advise on how you may best support and inform your students. Please contact Luke Maw, our Schools Liaison Officer by email or by telephone on 01865 279380.

You can request copies of our undergraduate prospectus for your school or college here.

Oxford Pathways

St Edmund Hall is an active supporter of the Oxford Pathways programme, a collaborative initiative between the colleges of the University of Oxford, supported by the Sutton Trust. The Schools Liaison Officer is currently also a Pathways co-ordinator. Oxford Pathways offers events for students in Years 10 to 13, and provides admissions support, advice and guidance to students and staff from non-selective state schools with little history of student progression to Oxford.

To find out more about Oxford Pathways and their upcoming events, please visit their website.
