Legacies and Planned Gifts

Since its foundations, St Edmund Hall has relied greatly on donations from Aularians, Fellows, staff and friends to expand its facilities and develop its reputation as a first-class teaching institution.

A legacy is the only donation that just about anyone can make and is often the greatest one that anyone does make. A gift in your will to Teddy Hall can make a lasting contribution for generations to come, whether it endows scholarships or bursaries for gifted students, helps fund academic posts or provides new facilities and resources. Every bequest, however modest, helps more than you might imagine.

Charitable bequests in the UK incur neither capital gains nor inheritance tax. Planned giving tax benefits apply to bequests made by US donors. A gift from you can reduce the amount of any tax payable out of your estate.

We are truly grateful to everyone who has already chosen to remember the Hall in their will, and if you are considering this type of gift, thank you.

Including the Hall in your Will

Suggested Wording for Legacies

You can also amend an existing will by adding a Codicil. We advise that you consult your legal adviser when amending or setting up your Will.

The Floreat Aula Legacy Society

Donors who choose to remember us in their Will play a vital role in the continued existence of the Hall and are invited to become members of the Floreat Aula Legacy Society. The Society hosts a biennial dinner in Hall. In addition, donors receive a certificate, invitations to other special events and, unless otherwise requested, are listed in the Hall Magazine.
