College Choir supports Helen & Douglas House

Monday, 25 January 2016

The choir once again went to sing at Helen & Douglas House at the end of last term, as part of a plan of termly visits to the local charity, which provides hospice care for children and young adults.

They were accompanied by St Edmund Hall’s Chaplain, Rev. Will Donaldson, who was also able to present Helen & Douglas House with a cheque for £275. The money was raised through carol singing and the College’s advent carol service. There was also a contribution of almost £80 from College staff, from donations made in lieu of sending Christmas cards. Every year, the staff choose a different charity to support in this way and suggestions are welcomed from any employee.

Annaliese Taylor, Community & Events Fundraiser at Helen & Douglas House, wrote to thank the choir for visiting and for the donation, saying: “It was absolutely wonderful to have you visit Douglas House and sing for our guests, volunteers and staff. Your gift will help make a difference to the short lives of very sick children and young adults, as well as to their families.”
