Once again, the Principal was delighted to welcome members of the Floreat Aula Legacy Society and their guests to the Hall on Friday 31 March for the 11th Floreat Aula Legacy Society Weekend. The Society was established to recognise and thank those who have generously decided to make a provision to the Hall in their Will.

There were several activities prior to the dinner. Highlights included a visit to the Broad Press for a historic printing workshop, tours of the Blavatnik School of Government and discovering secrets of the Ashmolean. Guests were then invited to enjoy Evensong, followed by drinks in the Senior Common Room and a four-course dinner in the Wolfson Hall.

The next morning Aularians listened to a fascinating talk by the Hall’s Principal, Professor Keith Gull on Oxford and Penicillin: The History and the Future. After which, John Hawkins (1970, Physics and 2012 DPhil History) spoke about his research on Grymbald’s Crypt before leading guests to explore the Crypt underneath the College Library.

It was a great weekend (helped by the excellent weather!) and over 100 alumni, guests and Fellows attended the dinner.

There are currently over 200 members of the Floreat Aula Legacy Society. Membership is optional and member’s names are listed in the annual Hall Magazine. If you would like to speak to somebody about making a provision for the Hall in your Will, please contact Sally Brooks, Head of Development & Alumni Relations Office, on sally.brooks@seh.ox.ac.uk or 01865 279041.
