Jessica Hatcher-Moore (1999, Modern History) has won the Print Award at this week's One World Media Awards 2017.

One World Media is a not-for-profit organisation that supports international journalism and promotes media coverage of global issues.

Jessica's winning piece, a Long Read for the Guardian, takes a look at the increasingly desperate political situation in Burundi, and specifically at the murder of three elderly Italian nuns in Bujumbura in September 2014. Murder In Burundi sees Jessica following the work of a human rights defender who set out to solve the murders, but came up against enormous opposition from the authorities.

Very many congratulations to Jessica for this prodigious accolade and a tremendously important piece of work.
