Leishmania are protozoan parasites that cause disease in humans and animals. My laboratory is interested in the cellular mechanisms that enable these parasites to go through complex life cycles and cause disease. We are studying the structure and function of the Leishmania flagellum to discover how it contributes to parasite survival in the macrophage.
