St Edmund Hall is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford and occupies a historic site in the middle of Oxford, just off the High Street.  The College community has around 70 Fellows, 450 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in addition to administrative and domestic staff.  St Edmund Hall’s roots are in the 13th Century, making it one of the oldest education institutions now within the University of Oxford.

Our first year students are accommodated on the main Queen’s Lane site.  Just five minutes’ walk away, across Magdalen Bridge, the former Isis Guesthouse houses about 45 of our undergraduates.  From July to September, the Isis is open to paying guests offering single, twin, double and family rooms with en-suite facilities.  Our newest accommodation opened in 2004, located in East Oxford, the William R Miller Building is also close to the main Queen’s Lane site and is home to 55 students who all live in en-suite rooms.   Our Norham Gardens properties are located in leafy North Oxford some ten minutes’ walk from College across the University Parks.  These Victorian houses are very popular with our finalist students.

Reporting to the Deputy Estates Manager, the Warden is required to run the College properties at Norham Gardens (7 properties) on a day-to-day basis ensuring that the buildings/rooms are managed, allocated correctly and cleaned  regularly to provide the best level of service to our residents.  The Warden will also supervise the Norham Gardens team, comprising a General Maintenance Assistant, a Housekeeping Supervisor and currently four Scouts (cleaners).

The Warden will also oversee Health & Safety matters throughout the properties and ensure the College Health & Safety policies are complied with and Risk Assessments are raised where necessary and kept current.

The Warden will also form part of the on-call rota team responding to out of hours emergencies.

Previous experience in a supervisory role and a formal qualification in a recognised building trade and some experience of facilities management are essential.  The Warden will also require a good level of fitness, hold a valid driving licence and be computer literate.

In return, a competitive salary is offered together with an annual leave entitlement of 28 days (including bank holidays) plus an additional entitlement of between 8-10 days per annum during the College closed periods at Easter and Christmas, a complimentary lunch in the Hall of the College at Queen's Lane (when the Kitchen is open), enrolment in the Oxford Staff Pension Scheme, subsidised bus pass scheme and season ticket loan.
