Amy Blakemore

Amy Blakemore (2009, English) had already won the Foyle Young Poets Competition in 2007 and 2008 before studying at the Hall.

During the second year of her degree she was included in Bloodaxe’s anthology, Voice Recognition: 21 poets for the 21st Century. She edits the online magazine Pomegranate, and performed at Latitude’s Poetry Arena in the summer of 2011.

Nasty Little Press published her first pamphlet of poems, Amy’s Intro, just before she took her Finals in 2012. Her collection Humbert Summer won the Melita Hume Poetry Prize in 2014. Emily Berry, the judge, called it: “a book written in a rebellious spirit – playful, defiant, sure of itself – a burst of quickfire poems delivering twisted despatches from modern life.”
