Meet the Poet – Maya Jewell Zeller and Nancy Campbell
We are delighted to welcome a double act to this Meet the Poet event: Maya Jewell Zeller and Nancy Campbell. Maya and Nancy will give readings of their work, followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
Maya Jewell Zeller is an American poet and the author of several books including Alchemy For Cells & Other Beasts (Entre Rios Books, 2017), the chapbook Yesterday, the Bees (Floating Bridge Press, 2015), and the poetry collection Rust Fish (Lost Horse Press, 2011). She received a Promise Award from the Sustainable Arts Foundation and teaches at Central Washington University. UK poet Nancy Campbell’s first poetry collection, Disko Bay (Enitharmon, 2015), was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the Michael Murphy Memorial prize. In 2018/19 she served as the UK’s Canal Laureate. A series of residencies with Arctic research institutions recently resulted in The Library of Ice: Readings in a Cold Climate (Scribner, 2018) which is longlisted for the Rathbones Folio Prize 2019.
Teddy Hall’s ‘Meet the Poet’ series brings an established or emerging poet to the College once a term. The spirit of these events is relaxed, inclusive and informal. Entry is free, and the readings are open to all members of the University as well as to the public.
