Fine Art graduate Jack Stanton wins high-profile 2013 New Sensations prize for emerging artists

Thursday, 7 November 2013

Congratulations to Jack Stanton (2010, Fine Art) who was recently awarded this prestigious prize, after graduating from St Edmund Hall and the Ruskin School of Drawing and Art in the summer.

Jack describes himself as an artist, musician and videographer, and his work seeks a hybridity between the three fields. He says, “My work often involves narratives of adolescence; my personal interpretations of formative archetypes set against commonly received ideas as presented by mass media.”

You can find out more about Jack's work by visiting his website: www.jack-stanton.com.

Jack adds, “Performance plays a large part in my practice. I use my body and voice as means to directly inhabit the work.” A video showcasing some of his work is online at the Saatchi website

The New Sensations competition is the most important and high-profile award in the UK for emerging artists. It was launched six years ago by the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4 to support imaginative and talented young artists and attracts entries each year from the best graduates studying at UK and Republic of Ireland art schools.

A New Sensations exhibition also forms part of Frieze Week in London, introducing these emerging artists to an international audience.
