Hall Hosts Inaugural Go Green Formal Dinner
10 Nov 2025
On Thursday 6 November, the Hall welcomed 131 guests to its inaugural Go Green Formal Hall Dinner, joined by special guest Janie Bickersteth from Good Food Oxfordshire and local farmers from the OxFarmtoFork initiative.
Guests enjoyed a delicious evening of locally sourced food, embarking on a culinary journey through each course. Impressively, 85% of the ingredients were supplied through the OxFarmtoFork scheme — a wonderful showcase for students, Fellows, and guests of the high-quality, sustainable, and seasonal produce available in Oxford.
Sam White, Director of Catering at St Edmund Hall, explained:
“The aim of the Go Green Formal Dinner was to celebrate local food and highlight the Hall’s commitment to community and environmental responsibility. Each farmer introduced a course featuring their ingredients and shared insights into their work, giving guests a genuine connection to where their food comes from. The evening was a great success — filled with engaging conversation, delicious dishes, and a shared passion for sustainable living. Following its success, the Go Green Formal Dinner will now become an annual event at the College.”
