Music at Teddy Hall

Although St Edmund Hall does not offer Music as an undergraduate course option, the College has a lot of active musicians taking part in a wide range of musical activities. Our Director of Music, Christopher Bucknall, conducts the Chapel Choir, together with our Organ Scholars, and encourages music-making of all kinds.

The College has many attractions for musicians:

  • We offer flexible and manageable Organ Scholarships that are compatible with any subject – your musical duties can be combined with the workload of any Oxford degree course.
  • There is ongoing investment in music, including recent purchases of a new piano and organ and a state-of-the-art PA system for student bands to use.
  • We have a Masterclass scheme, unique to this College, which allows talented student musicians to apply for up to £1000 a year to pay for advanced coaching.
