The College has lots of active musicians taking part in a wide range of musical activities. Our Director of Music, Christopher Bucknall, conducts the Chapel Choir, together with our Organ Scholars, and encourages music-making of all kinds. Download our music term card for Hilary 2019, or view our online calendar listing all the choir rehearsals and music society events.
The College has many attractions for musicians:
We offer flexible and manageable Organ Scholarships where your musical duties can be combined with the workload of any Oxford degree course.
There is significant ongoing investment in music, including recent purchases of a new piano and organ and a state-of-the-art PA system for student bands to use.
We have a Masterclass Award scheme, unique to this College, which allows talented student musicians to apply for up to £1000 a year to pay for advanced tuition.
Please note that St Edmund Hall does not offer Music as an undergraduate course option – you can find the full list of courses here.
