Mr Joseph Barclay

Joe Barclay was an undergraduate at the Hall where he studied Geography (1965).

In 1999 he joined Oxford University in the new role of Regional Liaison Director. In this position he set up the Business Liaison Unit with the remit of developing links with local industry in areas such as technology transfer, research, consultancy and continuing education. During his period working in Oxford he represented the University on several boards including Venturefest (Chairman), the Oxfordshire Economic Partnership, and the Oxfordshire Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to joining the University, Joe spent 30 years with Barclays Bank, holding senior positions in Birmingham, London, Bristol and Paris.

Joe retired from the University in 2011 and is now a trustee of several charities including The Lord Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre Trust (Chairman), The Nuffield Oxford Hospitals Fund, The City of London Endowment Trust for St Paul’s Cathedral, The Buckinghamshire Community Foundation, The Lady Mico Trust and the Bucks Association for the Care of Offenders.

In 2014/15 Joe was High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire. He is married and has two daughters and a son. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
