Siddhant Dhingra

MCR President (2024–25)

Siddhant Dhingra (2021, DPhil Organic Chemistry) is a final-year postgraduate student at St Edmund Hall.

Siddhant is pursuing his doctoral studies in the Department of Chemistry, focusing on mechanistic and inhibition studies of enzymes relevant to both biomedical and industrial fields. Before Oxford, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. While at Oxford, he has held the post of Welfare Officer (2021–23) and Vice-President (2023–24) in the MCR Committee. Siddhant is also a trained peer-supporter and can be found involved with the Oxford University Dramatics Society (OUDS) when not at work or study.

Siddhant’s research within the Schofield group encompasses diverse projects, including protein engineering for biocatalysis and studies on herbicide resistance in plants. Additionally, he has supervised various undergraduate and postgraduate students, further honing his leadership in academic mentorship.

In his role as President, Siddhant’s main responsibility is representing the postgraduate student body to senior members of the College, as well as to various University-wide committees. He also works with the MCR Committee on the organisation of social and welfare activities around College and budget-planning, and is always available to listen to any suggestions or requests, or any other changes the students would like to see to College life.
