I am from Cincinnati, Ohio in the US. Before coming here, I lived in NYC as an undergraduate student for four years. I am here at the Hall for just one year as a master’s student, and I am absolutely loving it! Outside of my studies, I enjoy rowing with SEHBC, runs in the University Parks, yoga, and walks in Port Meadow.

I did my undergraduate degree at Columbia University in NYC. I studied US history and premedical sciences. I am now here at Teddy getting my master’s in the History of Medicine. I am writing my dissertation on the emergence of the LGBTQ patient in the US in the second half of the 20th Century and the rise of medical school curriculum for this patient population over the past few decades. I hope to attend medical school back in the US after my degree and another gap year. My course in predominantly women and I always feel supported. Of course, sexism unfortunately persists in the discipline of history. I feel very grateful for my mentors and peers for preventing this from affecting my experience here.

Tell us about your favourite memories from the Hall…

It’s so hard to choose- there are so many good ones! If I had to pick, I would say standing with my friends on our chairs at the MCR Christmas Dinner shouting carols from the top of our lungs.

What do you think of when you hear ‘Women of the Hall’?

I feel supported and inspired by the intelligent and vibrant community of women and non-binary people in the MCR. As the women’s rep (inclusive term), I have really enjoyed getting to know members of the Hall at different events I have planned with other committee members. As a whole, I find the entire MCR community to be supportive and friendly. As a queer woman, I am grateful for the acceptance and inclusivity that exists here in the Hall!
