Tehillah is pictured in her favourite study spot- the JCR Computer Room.

Although I’m a first gen student, I always knew I wanted to go to university. Luckily, I had a great support system of family, friends and teachers who always wanted me to strive for the best, but never pressurised me into doing anything that I didn’t want to do. Despite attending a state school, our school often partnered with Oxbridge access events to help us believe that if we worked hard, we could end up here.

My favourite aspect of my degree is how broad it is. This allows me to not only discover which specific topics I’m interested in, but also the type of work I enjoy. One thing that I have particularly liked is having the opportunity to dabble in entrepreneurship. An area of my subject which I am currently interested in and would like to explore further is the innovations of new sustainable materials used in the world of textiles. It allows me to combine my ‘passion for fashion’ with my degree to create a positive impact on the world.

Although I’m not entirely sure what path I’ll take next, I know in the end I want to be successful and make my family proud.

Coming to Teddy Hall and having never lived away from home, I was anxious to be away from my family, but I was lucky to meet such amazing people at Teddy. I am fortunate to be surrounded by friends from different countries and backgrounds and experience new cultures- I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Polish ‘Fat Thursday’!

Although my friends would never use the word athletic to describe me, I do enjoy playing a game or two of badminton and have had the honour of representing Teddy. The women’s team may be small, but we put on a good game.

Even though last year was a hard time for a lot of us and we were limited with the things we could do and the people we could meet, I managed to find joy in the small things. My favourite memories were going on the most random walks with people from the Hall and my housemate and I hyping ourselves up before formals every other day by having dance parties.

What do you think of when you hear ‘Women of the Hall’?

I think of the range of women that can be seen in Teddy. I don’t picture all of us being characterised by one thing. Yes we are ‘Women of the Hall’ but we are also so much more than that with each person bringing something unique and different to the hall.
