An interactive workshop for all performers led by Mark Ross Clark and Joan Chika Robertson, exploring the relationship between voice, movement, imagination and dramatic expression. Through a sequence of collaborative exercises drawn from Professor Clark’s internationally recognised Singer-getics approach and the Alexander Technique, participants will develop confidence, creativity and expressive freedom in performance. Open to singers, instrumentalists, actors and performers of all kinds; no passive observers, everyone takes part.

Venue: Old Dining Hall, St Edmund Hall
Audience: Open to singers, instrumentalists, actors, dancers, and members of the wider Oxford community.
Mark Ross Clark is Professor Emeritus of Music and Theatre, Artistic Director of the British Opera Academy, an award-winning opera director, author and certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. He has directed opera and music theatre internationally for more than three decades and has led workshops and masterclasses throughout the United States, Europe and beyond. His Singer-getics approach integrates singing, acting and movement to help performers communicate with greater freedom, confidence and creativity.
Joan Chika Robertson is a violinist, educator and Director of the British Opera Academy. A member of the violin faculty at the Royal Academy of Music, she has performed and led orchestral string sections internationally and has extensive experience as a mentor, adjudicator and workshop leader. Her work combines musical excellence with an interest in wellbeing and performance development, helping performers to cultivate physical ease, focus and confidence on stage.
