The Tyring House and Gilgamesh Retold
Event
The Tyring House by Lynn Thornton and Gilgamesh Retold by Jenny Lewis – a dynamic dual production weaving music with lyrical storytelling.
In Oxford for one night only! This exciting production, developed by the QExtra Studio at the Questor’s Theatre, Ealing, features a razor-sharp play by Lynn Thornton (The Tyring House, Poets House Pamphlets, 2020) which captures Shakespeare’s most iconic charachters, seen through the eyes of a contemporary poet. Followed by a retelling of the ancient Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh by Jenny Lewis (Gilgamesh Retold, Carcanet Classics, 2018) as you’ve never seen it told before – a story of longing, supernatural forces and fantastical beings, reimagined for a modern audience.
Both plays are directed by Paul Collins (Director of The Questors highly acclaimed production of Consent) and innovatively performed by Questor’s actors. All money raised will go directly towards The Questors Roof Fund.
The Tyring House and Gilgamesh Retold will also be performed on 21 November at 7.45pm at the Questor’s Theatre, Ealing, London. For details and to book, please go to the Questors Theatre website – http://www.questors.org.uk/event.aspx?id=1004
