Jim and Ian breaking record
Jim and Ian broke the record for the oldest combined pair – a 132 years between them.

After setting out from La Gomera on 13 December 2023, our College boatman Jim Ronaldson and his rowing partner Ian Davies successfully completed their 3000 mile row across the Atlantic ocean for the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, arriving in Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua on Sunday 18 February at 3.06 am. A total of 66 days, 17 hours and 39 minutes at sea.

They have raised over £25,000 for PAPYRUS UK, which supports the prevention of young suicide and Myeloma UK, which helps research, treatment and care to people living with Myeloma.

Jim and Ian also broke the record for the oldest combined pair – a combined age of 132 years between them.

Our boatman also managed to savour some great sunsets, on his way to celebrating their arrival into Antigua.

A huge thanks to everyone at Teddy Hall who supported Jim and Ian. They have both shown Hall Spirit and raised an incredible amount for charity. Hall members can still visit Jim’s fundraising page.
