Presentation ceremony at the Hall in honour of alumnus Dr Nitya Anand

Last week Mrs Shanti Anand, widow of alumnus Dr Nitya Anand presented St Edmund Hall Principal, Professor Keith Gull with a commemorative silver bowl, to be added to the Hall’s silver collection.

Mrs Anand presented the bowl in recognition of her late husband Nitya. Nitya came up to the Hall in 1962 after graduating from the University of the West Indies, Jamaica. He took a Diploma in Agricultural Economics and later went on to complete a DPhil. During his career, Nitya held important posts in the Ministry for Overseas Development.

Mrs Anand was joined for the presentation by her family, which took place in the Principal’s Drawing Room.

The words inscribed on the bowl commissioned by Mrs Anand commemorate and celebrate her husband’s achievements at the Hall.
