Three Hall students awarded Simonian Prizes for Excellence in Leadership

St Edmund Hall is proud to announce this year’s winners of the Simon, Arpi, Marie & John Simonian Prizes for Excellence in Leadership awards go to three Hall students who have shown significant leadership qualities during their time at the Hall in any area, e.g. sport, charity work, journalism, theatre/drama, music, potential future academic leadership, or other outside interests.
Julien Kress (2019, History) is awarded for leadership as JCR President during the Covid-19 pandemic. Julien comments:
“The Hall has been a home to me. Looking back, the opportunity to give back has been an honour, and was definitely the highlight of my time here”.
Camille Lasbareilles (2021, DPhil Clinical Neurosciences) is recognised for leadership as St Edmund Hall Boat Club’s Women’s Vice Captain and for her work with the Hall’s Centre for the Creative Brain. Camille writes:
“I am truly honoured to have been selected as a recipient of this prestigious award. This award is a powerful reminder of the importance of community and giving back. Leadership is not about personal accomplishments but about making a difference in the lives of others; and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to use this prize money to make a positive impact in my community.”
Daniele Cotton (2021, DPhil Molecular and Cellular Medicine) is awarded for leadership displayed through his student advocacy work and development of emergency and welfare contact card system. Daniele says:
“I’m extremely grateful to have received this award and want to express an enormous thank you to Katie, Ella and Clare for putting me forward.”
The award is given annually with a prize of £500 each and is open to both undergraduates and postgraduates. This is one award among nearly 150 scholarships, awards and prizes given each year by the Hall. For more information, visit our Scholarships and Prizes page.
