At the end of last term, Teddy Hall swimmers won the College’s first Cuppers trophy of the year with a dominant display in the annual inter-college competition on 24 November at the University’s Rosenblatt Pool on Iffley Road.

For swimming Cuppers, points are awarded per entry and then on places: so the more entries a team have, the more points they can win. Teddy Hall’s team numbered over 30 people, giving us an early advantage! There were numerous excellent swims, with highlights including our women’s teams securing convincing victories in both their relays. Our first-years led the way with their enthusiasm, scoring particularly highly in the front crawl race.

In the end, Teddy Hall won with the highest ever points total seen in recent history with 210 points, beating a combined Jesus/ Christ Church team to second with 143 points. Congratulations to all who took part, including our successful co-captains Tom Lawrence and Jack Rogers!

The final standings were as follows:

  • 1st: St Edmund Hall, 210pts
  • 2nd: Jesus/ Christ Church, 143pts
  • 3rd: Somerville, 106pts
  • 4th: Worcester, 85pts
  • 5th: Wadham, 60pts
  • 6th: Magdalen, 54pts
  • 7th: Mansfield, 16pts.
