Principal Baroness Willis and Professor Goldberg elected Fellows of the Royal Society

Professor Baroness (Kathy) Willis, CBE, Professor of Biodiversity, and Principal of St Edmund Hall and Professor Leslie Ann Goldberg, Professor of Computer Science and Senior Research Fellow at St Edmund Hall, have been elected as Fellows to the Royal Society. Over 90 researchers, including 12 Oxford Scientists, have been appointed to the UK’s national academy of sciences, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to advancing scientific knowledge.
Principal Willis said: “I am delighted and honoured to receive this recognition from one of the world’s leading scientific institutions.” Professor Goldberg added: “I am so honoured to join the Fellowship of the Royal Society. I am also grateful to all of the amazing people that I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with, throughout my research career so far – I couldn’t have done any of it without them.”
Election to the Fellowship is one of the highest honours in the scientific world, awarded to individuals who have made impactful contributions to knowledge. New Fellows join the ranks of Stephen Hawking, Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Lise Meitner, Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar and Dorothy Hodgkin.
