Dr Andrew McCallum

Clinical Tutor in Medicine

Dr Andrew McCallum is a Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and Acute General Medicine at Oxford University Hospitals. He completed his undergraduate training in Edinburgh, and postgraduate training in the UK (Edinburgh, Liverpool, London) and overseas (South Africa, Malawi). He is a Clinical Tutor in Medicine at St Edmund Hall.

Andrew has a clinical and research interest in the management of tuberculosis and mycobacterial infections. He completed a Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellowship assessing the intrapulmonary pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of first-line TB treatment in Blantyre, Malawi, 2015–18. He is the ID TB Lead at the Trust and an advisor on the British Thoracic Society MDR-TB Clinical Advice Service. He was the Trust Sepsis Lead 2021–25.

Andrew teaches undergraduate clinical medical students, supports examinations (MB BCh and MRCP PACES) and postgraduate training in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine.
