Joy Hibbins

Joy Hibbins (1981, Modern Languages) is the founder and CEO of the charity Suicide Crisis. In 2018, she published a book about suicide prevention Suicide Prevention Techniques: How A Suicide Crisis Service Saves Lives (published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers – Hachette UK). The book explains the methods, approach and ethos used at the charity’s Suicide Crisis Centre, which was the first of its kind to be set up in the UK in 2013. Read reviews of the book online here.

Joy featured in St Edmund Hall’s ‘Women Inspire’ exhibition in 2015 when her portrait was included as one of 20 inspirational individuals associated with the College. She was awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year’s Honours List 2019.
