Niccolò Fontana

College Lecturer in Physics

Niccolò Fontana is a College Lecturer in Physics at St Edmund Hall.

Bio

Originally from a small village in northern Italy, Niccolò earned his MSc in spin-based quantum devices from the University of Warwick before joining the Hall as a DPhil student in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics. He began tutoring in his first year and has thoroughly enjoyed the experience ever since. When he’s not in the lab, you’ll likely find him rowing on the Isis or off on adventures somewhere (hopefully) warmer than the UK.

Niccolò’s research lies at the intersection of physics, chemistry, and computer science. He is particularly interested in exploring whether molecules can be used as the basis for the next generation of computation, the so-called “quantum computing”.
