Professor Nicholas Stone

Emeritus Fellow

Nicholas Stone was a Fellow and Tutor in Physics at St Edmund Hall from 1969 to 2005. His areas of specialism include nuclear structure and low temperature solid state physics; the structure of atomic nuclei far from stability; weak interactions; nuclear magnetic and electric hyperfine interactions in solids, including symmetries of ordered states; and studies of space and time reversal symmetry in nuclei.

Following retirement he moved to Oak Ridge, working on nuclear data documentation in association with the IAEA, Vienna and enjoying his life-long hobbies of travel and philately, with irregular returns to the UK and Oxford.
