Olivia (Olly) Belcher

Olly founded the charity Shivia in 2008 with the mission to empower the poorest in India to create livelihoods with dignity. Today Shivia operates in eight states of India as well as Madagascar and works with thousands of families every year so they can provide brighter futures for themselves.

Prior to Shivia, Olly studied at St Edmund Hall and gained an MA Geography (First Class Honours) and an MSc (Distinction). She travelled extensively in India and Nepal before joining the World Bank in Washington DC where she was awarded the World Bank Youth Innovation Fund. She returned to London to work for Accenture Strategy and started on her plan to launch Shivia.

Olly previously sat on the Boards of the charities MAITS and the Themis Charitable Foundation. She also sat on Committees for Leonard Cheshire International, St Mary’s Ascot School Alumnae and the Board of Moonpig Foundation. She was the UK Ambassador for the NGO, BASE, working with very poor communities in West Nepal and remains heavily involved with the foster home, Familia, in West Bengal. Olly has received numerous awards for her work in the charity sector and her drive to help very poor women in particular.

Olly is the immediate past President of the St Edmund Hall Association (SEHA) and sat on the College Development Committee until 2025. She runs the Teddy Hall podcast series, “Spirit of the Hall” which she started when she was President of the SEHA. Since then she has interviewed around 50 fascinating alumni, students, Fellows and staff.

Olly is married to George, lives in London and is the proud mother of three children.
