Chaplain
Part Time
The Chaplain will be an ordained minister of the Church of England or of a Church in communion with the Church of England. The post calls for utmost integrity and an enthusiasm for working in a diverse, close-knit, and busy college community. In line with College aspirations, academic excellence in theology or other related subjects, is a desirable qualification. The post may be held in conjunction with others, as well as with academic study. Appropriate candidates may be considered for election to a Fellowship.
The Chapel is formally Anglican, but as is normal in a higher education institution, the congregation is, in practice, ecumenical and international. The Chaplain is encouraged to explore new forms of worship and other events which will draw members of the wider College community, whether Christian or non-Christian, into the life of the College.
This is a part time, fixed term post (0.2 FTE, 7 hours per week) averaged over the year. Working hours will need to be flexible and weighted towards term time to allow for the peaks and troughs of the academic year.
In return, you will benefit from working for a supportive and inclusive organisation offering great benefits which include:
- Official membership of the Senior Common Room entitling the appointee to take meals at Common Table when the kitchen is open.
- Membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme including life cover of up to three times your salary.
- Subsidised bus pass loans, season ticket loans and cycle scheme loan.
- Access to the College’s employee assistance programme (a 24-hour telephone and online advisory and counselling service).
- Discount in University shops, free entry to other Oxford colleges and libraries, discounted computer software from the University Computing Service, free access to the Botanical Gardens and Harcourt Arboretum and discounted membership of the University’s gym and pool.
- Annual flu jab.
The College seeks to foster a collaborative and respectful work environment which promotes equality, diversity and inclusion together with a policy of assisting all our employees to achieve professional growth. We strive to appoint committed and compassionate colleagues to help ensure every student achieves their best.
