Stipendiary Lecturership in French Language (Orals and Conversation)

Are you fluent in French (equivalent to native speaker level)? Do you love teaching? We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated, talented linguist to give 12 contact hours of small class teaching a week over the three eight week terms of the academic year. The postholder will guide second and fourth year undergraduate students in the writing of essays in French on current affairs and broad cultural subjects, lead French conversation classes in preparation for oral exams, and teach the essay in French (‘dissertation’) to finalists.  Classes are normally made up of between four and eight undergraduate students.

We are looking for someone with an excellent understanding of French grammar and a sensitivity to style and register in French and English.  You will have spent some time in a French-speaking country and have a very good understanding of its cultural context.

This is a fixed term appointment from 25 September 2023 to 24 September 2024 with the possibility of extension.
