Teddy Hall’s Meet the Poet series presents a reading by A. E. Stallings.

Alicia Stallings is an American poet and translator who lives in Athens, Greece. Her books include Archaic Smile (1999), winner of the Richard Wilbur Award, Hapax (2006), winner of the Poets’ Prize, Olives (2012), a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Like (2018), a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She has translated Lucretius’s De Rerum Natura as well as Hesiod’s Works and Days, and her new selected poems, This Afterlife, has just appeared with Carcanet.

Stallings studied Classics at the University of Georgia before earning her Masters here at Oxford in 1992. She won a Pushcart Prize, the Eunice Tietjens Prize, the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award, the James Dickey Prize, the Willis Barnestone Translation Prize, among many others. She has also received a prestigious MacArthur Foundation “Genius Grant” for her work on poetry and translation.
