Aularians return to Teddy Hall

Over the summer over 250 alumni and guests visited the Hall for their anniversary dinners and an informal drinks reception held in conjunction with the Meeting Minds weekend in Oxford.

10th, 20th & 30th Anniversary Dinner
Matriculands of 1989, 1999 and 2009 and guests returned to the Hall on Saturday 14 September. They were joined at dinner by Principal Professor Kathy Willis and other Fellows who would have been their tutors whilst they were at the Hall.

Reunion Lunch for the matriculands of 1956
After celebrating their 60th Anniversary Lunch three years earlier, the matriculands of 1956 decided to meet again to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their graduation from St Edmund Hall. The event organised by Michael Cansdale (Jurisprudence) saw 14 alumni return with guests to look round the Hall and enjoy lunch in the Old Dining Hall. David Short (English) spoke after lunch about his recollections from his time at the Hall.

60th Anniversary Lunch
On Thursday 19 September alumni and guests returned to the Hall to celebrate 60 years since their matriculation in 1959. Guests had the chance to explore the Library, Chapel and newly refurbished Old Library before joining the Principal for lunch in the Old Dining Hall.

Alumni Drinks Reception
Held in conjunction with the Meeting Minds weekend in Oxford, alumni and guests returned to the Hall on Friday 20 September for an informal drinks reception in the Churchyard of St Peter-in-the-East, to enjoy the last of the summer sunshine.

50th Anniversary Dinner
Principal Professor Kathy Willis welcomed 45 alumni back on Saturday 21 September to celebrate 50 years since their matriculation in 1969. Alumni travelled from across Europe and some as far as the USA to join the Principal for dinner in the Old Dining Hall. After dinner, Paul Parker (History) responded to the Principal’s speech by reminiscing about his time at the Hall and toasting “Floreat Aula”.
