Bipolar Disorder and Creative Process: A Conversation

23 Apr 2018

Diary of a Bipolar Explorer by Lucy Newlyn

All are welcome to attend this event on Thursday 10 May at 5:30pm in the College’s Doctorow Hall.

What is the connection between bipolar disorder and creativity? What can someone who is bipolar contribute to communities? How does the bipolar patient cope with daily life in the family and workplace? How well do institutions meet the needs of those who have this condition?

These and other questions will be explored by Richard Lawes (Consultant Psychiatrist to the University’s Counselling Service) in conversation with Lucy Newlyn (Emeritus Fellow in English at St Edmund Hall) whose book Diary of a Bipolar Explorer was published by Signal in February 2018.

The conversation will be chaired by Will Donaldson, Chaplain of St Edmund Hall. It will last an hour, with a further 30 minutes for questions from the floor. Refreshments will be available.

This is a free event and all are welcome, but please email lucy.newlyn@seh.ox.ac.uk if you wish to attend, as we need to know numbers in advance.

For further details of Lucy’s book, visit the Signal Books website.
