St Edmund Hall to host second environmental sustainability seminar

15 Jun 2023

CES Seminar 2

St Edmund Hall will be holding its next public seminar ‘Going Green and environmental sustainability: how we measure it?’ as part of the ‘Conversations in Environmental Sustainability: beyond greenwashing’ series.

Each term the seminar will bring together leading thinkers and decision-makers from academia, business, government and NGOs to look beyond greenwashing. They will examine a specific issue related to environmental sustainability, exploring how to effectively marry environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals with financial returns, innovation and other business imperatives.

Our second seminar explores ‘Going Green and environmental sustainability: how do we measure it?’ on Friday 23 June 2023 at 17:00-19:15 and is kindly sponsored by Ninety One. Hosted by Professor Dimitrios Tsomocos, Professor of Financial Economics and Fellow by Special Election at St Edmund Hall, a panel of experts will each speak individually before engaging with each other in a discussion. We are pleased to welcome panelists: Dr Nicola Ranger, Executive Director, Oxford Martin Systemic Resilience Programme, Jonathan Taylor, President, Awesix Services Sàrl and Harriet Waters, Head of Environmental Sustainability, University of Oxford.

Since 2019, St Edmund Hall has been committed to being  recognised as one of the greenest and most environmentally sustainable colleges in Oxford and the establishment of this new sustainability seminar is also critical to this mission. The Hall aims to facilitate forum for considered honest, solution-based responses to the many global environmental sustainability challenges as well as improving our own environmental impact.

The seminar is a free public event open to all on a first-come-first-served basis.
