Teddy Hall wins Ice Hockey Cuppers 2026
4 Mar 2026
St Edmund Hall’s Ice Hockey team, Ursa Major, is proud to share that it beat Oxford Brookes 1-0 on Friday 27 February, winning the Ice Hockey Cuppers 2026. Team Captain Alexander Harris (2024, Earth Sciences) shares this report.
“The Ice Hockey tournament brought together 28 teams, with the Hall entering four: Ursa Major, Medius, Minor, and Unknown – the largest representation of any college. Although all teams put in a strong performance, only Ursa Major emerged from the group stages and moved to knockouts. Decisive victories through the knockouts led the Hall to the finals where we faced tournament favourites and reigning champions Brookes. An early goal gave us the lead which we held (despite a close call involving 2 different VAR angles) till we lifted the trophy for the first time in Hall History.
Special shoutouts to everyone who came to watch (even though it ran 10pm till 5am): Sim for organising everything and being unstoppable in goal, Arnaud and Oscar for their goals and experience, and Tom and Emily for their defence.”
