Dr Ann Taylor (1928-2017) joined St Edmund Hall as Fellow and Tutor in Physiology in 1980, becoming an Emeritus Fellow upon her retirement in 1995. She also served as Chair of the University Committee on Student Health from 1989 to 1994. The first and only female Tutorial Fellow when she started at the College, Ann described being greeted initially “with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension!”

Over the years, Ann taught, mentored, and supported the careers of many scientists and medics. Ann was a pioneer for the increased presence of women in academic life at Teddy Hall, as well as Oxford more widely. She was featured in the Hall’s photographic exhibition of inspirational women in 2015.

The Hall now wishes to honour Ann’s memory by endowing an Ann Taylor Undergraduate Bursary to enable more women to attend the Hall. The cost of endowing this bursary in perpetuity is £50,000. We thank those alumni and friends who have already contributed to this fund.
