Stipendiary Lecturership in Engineering Science

Part Time

St Edmund Hall proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Engineering Science from 1 October 2023 until 30 September 2024. This is a fixed-term post to cover teaching requirements during Professor Amy Zavatsky’s sabbatical leave.

The successful candidate will be required to provide five weighted hours of tutorials and classes per week to undergraduates during term to first- and second-year undergraduate students on Structures, Mechanics, Materials, and Dynamics (examination papers P3 and A3 in the Engineering Science course). The syllabuses for these papers are available on request.

The appointment will be made on the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommended scale for 5-hour Stipendiary Lecturers (currently £12,401 to £13,895 per annum subject to revision in line with national adjustments) and will be pensionable with the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

The Lecturer will also be entitled to lunch and dinner at the Common Table throughout the period of the appointment whenever the College Kitchen is open and the use of a bookable teaching room.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in Engineering Science (or a closely related discipline), or be well advanced in relevant doctoral study and in good academic standing. They should also have experience in preparing and delivering tutorials in Engineering Science. Applications should clearly show how skills and experience meet these criteria.
