Warden (East Oxford)

Full Time

Under the general direction of the Deputy Estates Manager, the Warden manages the Tamesis and William R Miller (WRM) properties along with a small number of other houses in East Oxford on a day-to-day basis ensuring that buildings and rooms are maintained appropriately to provide the best level of service to our residents.  The Warden will also supervise the Tamesis and WRM teams comprising a General Maintenance Assistant, a Housekeeper and currently four Scouts (cleaners). In the summer months the rooms at the Tamesis and WRM are let as guest accommodation to visitors to the city. This provides the College with an important income stream and the Warden will take an active role in the management of the commercial function of the properties during this period.

Renowned for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere and located in the heart of the City of Oxford, the main College site boasts one of the most attractive front quadrangles and is close to the High Street with its cafes, shops and buses. The train station is a 15-minute walk away.  The Tamesis (Iffley Road) and William R Miller Buildings (Dawson Street, just off the Cowley Road) benefit from being located close to The Plain roundabout from which roads lead to St Clements, Headington, Cowley and Iffley.

In return, we can offer good development opportunities to broaden your skills plus a comprehensive benefits package as follows:

  • Subsidised bus pass loan, season ticket rail loan and cycle scheme loan.
  • A free three-course meal whilst on duty and when the Kitchen is open.
  • Access to the College’s employee assistance programme (a 24-hour telephone and online advisory and counselling service).

  • The post also qualifies for the Edu Health Scheme which offers special private medical insurance for university staff and their families at a discounted rate.
