Accommodation for Visiting Students
We offer accommodation to all our Visiting Students for the whole of their time in Oxford as follows:
- Students visiting for the full academic year (three terms) may stay in their room throughout, including during the Christmas and Easter vacations.
- Students visiting for two terms only may stay in their room throughout, including the Easter vacation.
- Students visiting for one term only must vacate at the end of Michaelmas Term.
All our rooms are spacious single study-bedrooms, connected to the University’s internet network. Furnishings include a bed, desk, chair, lamp, storage space and a washbasin.
Where will I live?
You will have a room in one of our annexes, a short walk from the main College site, where you will be housed alongside other undergraduates so that you'll quickly feel part of the Teddy Hall community. Both buildings have a common room and kitchenette facilities.
Tamesis Guest House
Around a ten-minute walk away across Magdalen Bridge, the Guest House houses 43 third-year undergraduates and visiting students, with some en-suite rooms. There are kitchens and a common room and the building is opposite the University Sports Complex, it is also close to the lively student area of Cowley Road with the Oxford Blue Pub and Madhatters Jazz Club nearby. During the summer (July to September), it opens to the public as a hotel.
William R. Miller
Located in east Oxford, and even closer to College and grocery shops than Tamesis Guest House, the William R. Miller Building on Dawson Street is our newest accommodation. It can accommodate 55 students, all in en-suite rooms. The annexe has a spacious common room with a large TV and table tennis table, laundry room, and kitchens for every four to six rooms. On the same street are restaurants including the popular Kazbar and a Sainsbury’s, several pubs, and the shops and restaurants of the Cowley Road are just around the corner.
Meals
As part of your accommodation costs, you will pay for 50 dinners per term. Teddy Hall has an award-winning Head Chef and a reputation for some of the best college food in Oxford. We encourage students to eat in College, and no refunds are available if you choose not to.
Breakfast and lunch may also be bought in College if you wish, by adding money to your University (Bod) card.
