Dr Roman Kuhn

His areas of interest include the theory and history of fictionality, the interplay between text and paratext, and poetry (from epic to occasional) – all with a primary focus on French eighteenth-century literature.

He has published several articles on Voltaire and is currently pursuing a research project on eighteenth-century ‘poésie fugitive’, occasional poetry that (supposedly) ‘escaped’ from the author’s (or recipient’s) portfolio and was circulated to a broader audience in print or manuscript. The project aims to carry out ‘close’ as well as ‘distant’ readings of these texts and the networks that are created and fostered by ephemeral verse.
